VIBROGYM TRAINING

From September 2007 clients training with us will be able to make use of
our new VibroGym machine. The machine uses similar vibrating technology to that of the Power Plate and our certified trainer will be able to support, coach and advise clients how to work on the machine in one-on-one training sessions.

The VibroGym works by placing different parts of the body in contact with the vibrating platform in various exercise positions ranging from squats, lunges and push-ups to abdominal crunches, tricep-dips or bicep-curls.

The mechanical stimulus of the vibrating plate produces a stretch reflex, which depending on the frequency of the machine, results in muscles vigorously contracting between 30 and 50 times a second.

A pose is held for between 30 and 60 seconds at a time, activating multiple muscle groups to simultaneously stretch, tone and strengthen. Exercises can be performed standing, sitting or lying down and makers claim the equivalent of 60 minutes of conventional exercise can be achieved in just 20 minutes.

In addition to increasing strength and toning muscles, makers claim it can improve blood flow and therefore help reduce cellulite. It is also recommended for arthritis sufferers as it puts no strain on the joints.
The technology is known to have hundreds of celebrity fans such as
Madonna and Sadie Frost and is used by a number of Premiership football
teams including Manchester and Newcastle United.

Training sessions on the VibroGym need to be performed no more than 3
to 4 times per week with each session lasting about 15 minutes of actual
time on the machine.

While it's great for people who are short of time, this is no quick-fix and we advise clients to use the VibroGym as a part of their weekly
training regime and in conjunction with cardiovascular exercise and a
good diet.
